About Me

I qualified with a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Psychology degree at Adelaide University, and a Masters in Psychology (Clinical) at Flinders University. I've done a post-graduate Diploma in clinical hypnosis and training in Schema Therapy, mindfulness other proven clinical skills.

I've been providing clinical psychology services to adults in hospitals, government clinics and private practise for over thirty years. I am a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association, and the Australian Psychological Society.

We all feel distress at some time in our lives. Sometimes the distress can feel like too much to handle. Life is challenging, and working together with a skilled therapist can help even though we might already have the emotional support from friends or family.

I believe good therapists need to genuinely care about and try to deeply understand life from the client's point of view. We need to be skilled in a range of evidence based tools and techniques of therapy and be flexible to tailor the therapy to suit each individual client.

Good therapy is grounded in solid trust between the client and the therapist, with a clear sense of working together in a practical way. New skills are learnt and new ways of moving forward are discovered. It means getting a better understanding of how our emotions work, and sometimes even finding greater meaning and purpose in life overall.

Humour, active participation and ‘homework’ are also important, so that positive change is hopefully interesting and fun, as well as effective.
